about

Originally released on CDR from ephre imprint, UK, 2011

ephre presents a highly varied and ambitious album from masaki kubo (aka former_airline). from the cold opening minimalism of ‘skysensor’ via the strangely warped harmonies of ‘the day of forever’ and the dense rhythmic abstractions of ‘music from the death lounge’, this is an album that twists and turns down unexpected musical corridors. some may also recognise certain thematic nods to the master of unbound sci-fi psycho eroticism, jg ballard.

--
This is all a bit more noise based, with gritty, somewhat distorted sounds from radio, lo-fi electronics, synthesizers and such like. Occasionally loud, such as in ‘Airway To Your Skull’, but interestingly enough also contemplative, such as in ‘The Day Of Forever’ and ‘Music From The Death Lounge’ - which may even been taking the piss out of the glitch ambient movement, with somewhat up-speed tapes. Quite a varied disc, this one, with some interesting thoughts about noise music, through eight varied pieces, loud and a bit more quiet.

Ballard and been referred to as “sci-fi psycho-eroticism” or "dystopian snapshots”. ... more
